NO.02 pillar ( Twisted Woodland Guardian )

A striking sculptural pillar with an intensely organic, almost mythical character, this piece appears to be hand-carved from richly figured wood or a wood-like material. Its tall, irregular silhouette twists upward from a substantial, textured base, creating the impression of roots, branches, vines, and weathered tree trunks growing together into a single architectural form.

The sculpture is dominated by deep brown, honey, amber, and near-black tones, with the intricate grain and carved recesses producing dramatic natural variation across its surface. The upper section expands into a broad, asymmetrical crown with flowing contours and several deeply recessed forms. A prominent circular knot or eye-like detail near the upper left gives the sculpture an almost watchful personality, while the surrounding grain patterns resemble folded bark, muscles, feathers, or flowing fabric.

Moving downward, the form becomes increasingly dynamic. Numerous twisting tendrils cross and wrap around one another, creating openings and negative spaces throughout the central section. Some projections resemble gnarled branches or roots, while others evoke stylized limbs and curling vines. The layered carving gives the impression that the sculpture is continuously growing and transforming rather than following conventional geometric symmetry.

The lower portion gathers into a dense arrangement of curved, root-like forms before widening into a heavy, irregular pedestal. Fine carved lines sweep across the base, reinforcing the appearance of exposed roots or ancient tree growth. The aged-looking finish, dark crevices, rounded edges, and pronounced grain contribute to a sense of antiquity and craftsmanship.
